I have been nominated for a Sunshine Blogger Award by dear Kitty. While I don’t feel the need to participate in these kinds of awards since I view them as being like chain letters (making people feel obliged to carry on the endless chain to more and more people to get some kind of small reward), I am more than happy to answer the questions just for fun. So, here are Kitty’s questions for me.
- Where in the world do you live?
In the Waikato District of New Zealand. I think that’s specific enough for our wee slice of paradise.
- How long have you lived in your current place?
We’ve been in our house for three-quarters of a year now.
- Do you have a favourite hobby?
- If money was no object where would you love to visit?
Canada or Alaska – somewhere where I can explore the woods and look at log cabins. There are many places in the world I would enjoy visiting but I have yet to ever set foot overseas. I’m fine, I have not perished through lack of travel! I love travelling around New Zealand, especially the South Island, but having a cozy, productive home to call my own was always more important to me than travelling. One day…
- Do you have any pets/animals?
Yes: 1 cat and 3 chickens. For now. There are more planned in my head. 😉
- Do you have a favourite place to write your blog?
Not really. These days it is usually either on the couch on my laptop or typing with one hand on my mobile whilst feeding The Little Fulla. The thoughts can come at any given time though. You never know where or what things will pop out.
- Where or what do you like to do when you need to escape and chill?
Putting on my gumboots and getting out into the garden is my idea of ‘escaping’, or if it’s too hot or cold or I’m tired, I’m quite happy chilling on the couch watching TV online whilst knitting or researching various things on the interwebs. Or blogging, of course.
- Your favourite food or dish?
There are too many great foods in the world! I love seafood, especially salmon, homemade pizza, homemade pies, mushroomy meatballs, dim sum (Chinese dumplings) and chocolate, although I try to limit myself to two pieces of dark chocolate a day now. So self-controlled. Sometimes… Must stay off the sugar or things get too nuts. For some reason I’m hungry now.
- What do you love about your home?
Ah, where do I start? How many pages do I get? I love the fact that it’s mine (ours) and I have the ability to use my imagination and creativity to do all sorts of things that make it better or more homely. I have just bought new curtains for our bedroom, which I’m totally pleased with right now because they are blockout ones but are also a much lighter colour than the charcoal ones they replaced, and they make the room look bigger, cozier and just better! I also love the garden; its size, scope for development and mature fruit trees. My home is not perfect by any means but it’s very precious to me and I like that there’s always something to do.
- Do you have a holiday booked for this year?
Why, yes, actually. We haven’t had a decent holiday for a while, but in a few weeks’ time we are heading down south to Christchurch so our extended family and friends down there can meet The Little Fulla and we can have some good catch-ups. Other than that we haven’t planned anything else. Our first plane trip with The Little Fulla is going to be a big thing for us. So many things to take…
- How long have you known your closest friend?
My closest friend is my husband. We have been through thick and thin together but there’s no-one better to do life with. I have known him for 13-odd years and we will have been married for 10 years tomorrow. Happy Anniversary hunny! (You will always be my Squishy.)
And that’s a wrap. Thanks for the questions, Kitty!
