Those kakabeak are something that I have never seen before. Of course, if it is rare there, it is even more rare here.

Yes, they are quite something. It isn’t too hard to find at least one species or cultivar among garden centres, more often the red-flowered ones, but they are rare in the wild, mostly because they are a little too palatable to critters.
